Electromobility is gaining importance, and we are proud to be a part of it through this project. The project introduces higher user-friendliness and automation in the area of electric vehicle charging control, crucial for seamless and efficient testing of this growing form of transportation.

Problem introduction

In the current rapidly evolving world of electromobility, we face challenges brought by the diversity of charging infrastructure. Electric vehicle users encounter a wide range of charging stations, each with different technical specifications—variations in current capacity, voltage, and even the number of phases. This heterogeneity leads to uncertainty and potential issues in terms of compatibility and charging efficiency. For instance, charging a vehicle at a station not fully compatible with its specifications can result in slower charging or even battery damage.

Another aspect of the problem is the lack of standardization across different countries and regions. While some countries may predominantly have a unified type of outlets and voltage, others may offer a wide array of options. This poses a challenge for drivers traveling between different regions or for international users who may face difficulties charging their vehicles in foreign countries. Testing individual country-specific specifications before a model leaves the factory is necessary, and our custom application addresses this issue.

Our solution

Our application presents a user-friendly solution to this problem. It allows users to monitor and ensure that the charging of their vehicles on different types of outlets is done correctly and safely. The application not only initiates the flow based on defined parameters but also measures and displays the charging progress in real-time. Through communication with the voltage source and the ability to set desired parameters, the application provides not only convenience but, more importantly, enhances the safety of charging.

Our application addresses these challenges. It is designed to provide users with detailed control and insight into the charging process of their vehicles on different types of outlets, both according to predefined parameters in individual countries and in manual mode. The application enables users not only to start charging according to specific parameters but also provides detailed information about the charging process. This includes real-time monitoring of voltage, current, and overall charging status, allowing users to identify and address any issues that may arise immediately.

Conclusion and results

This project has allowed us to expand our experience and skills in software development beyond traditional web applications. Its successful completion confirms our ability to adapt to the specific needs of clients and expand our technological portfolio. This project not only brought valuable insights into the intricacies of communication with measuring devices but, most importantly, serves well in facilitating smoother testing of electric vehicle charging for the customer.
